Cooling
AC repair
Find out why it stopped cooling.
- Running, but not cooling
- Blowing warm air
- Weak airflow or a frozen coil
- Water leaks or repeated shutdowns
- Making noise
- A fan or compressor that will not start
We start with what you have noticed, then test the system. A compressor that will not start does not automatically mean the compressor has failed. An error code guides the investigation; it is not proof that a control board needs to be replaced.
Depending on the symptoms, we check the thermostat and controls, electrical supply, capacitors and contactors, fan and blower operation, airflow, drainage, and refrigerant conditions. If refrigerant is low, we investigate why. Adding refrigerant alone does not correct a leak.
We work on central split systems, packaged equipment, heat pumps, and ducted or ductless mini-splits, including multi-zone systems. The confirmed fault, equipment condition, and availability of compatible parts determine the repair options.
Light commercial and rental properties: we repair rooftop and package units and work with property managers and landlords.
You receive an explanation of the findings, a repair plan, and the exact price before additional work begins. Tell us about previous repairs or fault codes if you have them. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself.
AC repair and troubleshooting questionsHeating
Heating repair
Understand why the heat stops.
- A furnace that will not ignite
- Heat starts, then shuts off
- A heat pump that will not heat
- Blowing cold air in heat mode
- Uneven heat or weak airflow
- Making noise
A furnace that will not light or keeps shutting down can have several different causes. We check the operating and safety sequence, then explain which findings support the repair. A safety shutdown needs to be understood before the equipment returns to service.
On a gas furnace, that may involve the igniter, flame sensor, pressure switch, gas valve, inducer motor, blower, or controls. Airflow and venting conditions can also affect operation. We service gas and electric furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, and dual-fuel systems. We also repair ducted and ductless mini-split heat pumps in heating mode, including multi-zone systems.
For a heat pump that cools but will not heat, appropriate checks may include thermostat settings, sensors, defrost operation, the reversing-valve circuit, and refrigerant conditions. On dual-fuel equipment, we also consider how the furnace and heat pump work together.
Gas leak or a heater shut off and tagged by the gas company? If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas company first. Once the gas is off, we find the cause and repair the heater at the price you approve.
Light commercial and rental properties: we repair rooftop and package units and work with property managers and landlords.
Tell us when the fault happens and whether anything changed after previous service. Some repairs can be completed during the visit; others depend on parts or need a return appointment. Any additional work and its price require your approval.
Furnace and heat pump repair questionsPreventive care
Maintenance & tune-ups
Care for the system before you depend on it.
Maintenance is preventive care for an HVAC system that is still operating. Every visit includes a full diagnostic assessment focused on your concerns, followed by the tests, cleaning, and service appropriate to the equipment and its condition.
Before the next hot or cold spell, it is worth finding out how the system is operating and whether any faults are developing. We consider the whole system, not just the component that is easiest to reach.
What the visit includes
- Full diagnostic assessment and maintenance of one HVAC system, focused on your concerns
- Thermostat check
- Condenser cleaning
- Electrical-component and refrigerant-level checks
- Indoor-coil and flame-sensor cleaning when applicable to the system
- Furnace pressure-switch or pressure-sensor and gas-pressure checks when applicable
- Flue and vent-pipe check on gas equipment when applicable
- Accessible ductwork checked and serviced
- Air-filter replacement labor; the filter itself is not included
- System operation and diagnostics, including temperature and carbon monoxide measurements when applicable to the system
Air-filter replacement labor is included; the filter itself is not. Repairs, parts, and refrigerant are separate. If additional work is needed, we explain the findings and obtain your approval for the scope and price first.
Arrange access to the indoor and outdoor equipment, and tell us about comfort concerns, unusual behavior, and previous service. The work depends on the equipment and safe access. Maintenance can help extend equipment life and identify developing faults, but it is not a guarantee against future breakdowns.
Maintenance and service questionsAn informed decision
Second opinions
Make the next decision with clear findings.
- Conflicting diagnoses
- A repair did not resolve the symptoms
- An estimate you do not understand
- An HVAC concern before buying a home
A second opinion can help when the earlier explanation does not add up or you are unsure about a major repair recommendation. We assess the equipment, explain what the tests show, and give you information you can use to decide what to do next.
We do not sell new HVAC systems. Our role is to diagnose the problem and explain your repair options—not to sell you replacement equipment.
Previous invoices, reports, fault codes, and estimates are useful background. We begin with your description and test the system to establish what is actually wrong. Our findings may agree with the earlier recommendation or identify another explanation.
When a component fails, we also investigate why it failed and whether related conditions need attention. Equipment condition, operation, safety, repair needs, and parts availability all matter. We look for practical options that fit your priorities, without pressuring you into additional work.
For an HVAC concern when buying or selling a home, share the inspection notes and your deadline. Confirm appointment availability and the agreed scope before relying on it for a transaction timeline. This is an HVAC evaluation, not a whole-home inspection or a guarantee against future failures.
